I found these in the Supermarket recently and thought they'd be brilliant for an almost healthy something to nibble on late at night. Dark chocolate, nuts, fruit - what more could you want? A lot more actually, it's a good thing they come in a packet of 6.
I saw these Mantis Shrimp at the fishmongers recently for $2.99 a kilo, and thought wow, they look just like prawns! No, they are are not. They are a lot of work for not much to eat, but you do cut your hands up trying to open the spiky little bastards.
Greek delicacies at the Paniyiri Festival. OK, I had tried marinated octopus, fried haloumi with lemon, and chicken and lamb kebabs before; I had not tried Honey Puffs though. What a revelation! Delicious.
We had not allowed Monkey Boy to go on carnival rides by himself before, as my baby is only 6! (Please don't tell him I called him a baby) We relented and let him go with his brother, and he had the time of his life. Great success!
In our endless quest to stop the boys fighting, we put them in separate bubbles. They still tried to get at each other but we laughed so hard watching them crawl furiously while the bubble stayed in the same spot, we didn't mind. Also these bubbles are soundproof, bliss! If only the bubbles where suitable for long term use, I might try one myself.
We went to
Nantucket Kitchen and Bar last night for a few glasses of wine and a bite to eat, and it was fantastic. The staff where intelligent, fast, friendly and accommodating. The food was divine (have the crab cakes!) and the decor was beautiful. I spent the drive home telling Mr BC how we need to decorate our house to have the same crispy clean traditional features - gorgeous lighting, architraves, windows everywhere, dark wood and fireplaces. I don't need to have a wine fridge but it's good to try new things. Nantucket Kitchen and Bar is part of the new
Indooroopilly Shopping Centre renovations. (This is not sponsored, I just loved the restaurant!)
Mr BC checking out the kids menu on a view finder. Clever, huh?
What new things have you tried lately? I am a creature of habit but sometimes it's good to step outside your comfort zone, don't you think?
