Muppets Most Wanted

When you were growing up, did your parents sit in front of the TV on a Friday night, drinking wine and laughing their arses off at the Muppet Show? Mine did, and so did the parents of many of my friends. I remember being shushed during the cooking segment at a sleepover. Bork! Bork! Bork!

Well, the Muppets are back, this time on the big screen, with everyone's favourites; Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzy Bear, Gonzo, Beaker, Floyd and the band including Animal, Tina Fey, Lady GaGa, PDiddy, ....wait, what? Yes, there are A LOT of cameos and a few starring roles for non furry celebrities in this movie. Let me just say I never thought I would see Ray Liotta in a Muppets Movie. I'd love to go through them all but recognizing them yourself is part of the fun! Apparently there might be a few non-credited cameos as well, so keep your eyes peeled.

Apart from the actors with hands up their bottoms, the 3 main human roles go to Tina Fey (brilliant as a tough but lovesick Russian prison guard) Ty Burrell (The best Inspector Clouseau I've ever seen) and Ricky Gervais as an eerily smooth Mr Bad Guy. There is also a new Muppet, the evil mastermind frog Constantine, who I think is my new favourite Muppet of all time. I am a sucker for a Boris and Natasha accent!

So, did you grow up with the Muppets? Who is your favourite? Muppets Most Wanted opens in Australia on 7th April 2014, just in time for the school holidays. It's rated G, and the audience I sat with laughed their arses off, even without wine.
