Goal Setting

Can you picture someone on the railing of a harbour/river cruise boat, windswept hair, eyes glittering with booze fueled inspiration, arms flung out with intensity? I will lose weight! I will travel overseas! I will blast forward in my career! Plans? Who needs to plan, I've told the universe! All I can do is put it out there!

New Year Resolutions get a bad rap as a drunken declaration you make at one minute past midnight. A large, ill thought out gesture; thrown to the night sky, without any backup. No planning or forethought as to how you are going to achieve it.

I call bullshit. I've said it before, here, here, and here.

First up, I think if we stop calling them 'New Years Resolutions' we can do away with the implied failure straight away. Let's call them goals instead. Goals are great, but they are nothing without a well thought plan. Go back and click on those links to learn how to craft an OGSR that will let you achieve your goals in a structured step by step process. Or maybe you need some help focusing on some goals in the first place? Well, fair enough.

One of my goals for 2014 is to be better at blogging. I love LOVE LOVE LOVE blogging but I need to tighten my game. I've rounded up the best goal setting assistance I can find on the internet, because the beginning of the new year is a time ripe with sparkly inspiration and it would be a shame to waste that. Plus we don't have to do it on our own. Lets dive in, shall we?
