Last week I received an intriguing text. It was in invitation to coffee from a school mum, with the instructions to 'Just bring something to share ie something you've created or worked on yourself. I'll cover the food. x' I had no clue what she meant. A piece of art, or hobby. Something you make, she said.
???
Come and talk about your blog!
I'd been invited to an old school
Salon! So much fun and a brilliant idea. The 6 of us met for a delightful morning tea, and shared the creativity that drives, or at least refines, our lives. Our host shared a recording of her singing, and she is a serious talent. She's
good. Another impressed us with her beautiful resin jewelry and also her surprise! tap dancing. One talked about her impressive sporting achievements and another, a proper writer, read a short story she'd written. The talented lady who designed this blog header shared her graphic designs and I waffled on about my love of blogging.
It was inspiring, and very motivational to hear other women talk about the talents they have besides raising a family and running a household. It made me think that so often, creative aspirations get pushed aside so that we can focus on our families and/or careers - and although this is obviously important, it isn't the only thing that defines us.
What creative pursuits have you put on the back burner? Have they been there so long that you've forgotten about them? Why not invite some friends around and reignite that spark, it might just light the way to your happy place.
