Thor: The Dark World

I recently attended the preview of Thor: The Dark World, with a completely open mind. I suspect the movie is aimed at teenage boys, but you know what? I love lots of things that teenage boys love, including action blockbusters with a bit of eye candy, so shut up! The monkey brothers have The Avengers DVD on high rotation in the Chaos House; and although I hadn't paid too much attention to the plot or the franchise ins and outs I was keen to see what happens next for Thor and Loki. I am fascinated with Norse mythology, plus I know there are some very ermm, handsome characters in the franchise? A friend delights in telling the story of how she ran into Chris Hemsworth at Byron Bay, wearing half a wet-suit and holding his baby daughter. We almost have to catch her from swooning when she tells this story.

You're welcome. Would you like to know about the movie now? The movie was great! Lots of special effects, lots of action, some snappy dialogue and a few laughs. Some exciting twists and turns. I took Mr BC and we both loved it. Check out the trailer!

The plot continues the adventures of Thor the Might Avenger as he battles to save Earth and all the 9 realms from an evil force that predates the universe itself. This force is being sought by a nasty evil elf that looks a bit like that goblin that runs Gringott's bank in Harry Potter, if that goblin was to take a lot of steroids and wear armor.

There are some laughs from Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgard, (who just loves to get his gear off, doesn't he?) and that guy from Bridesmaids; some impressive fighting from Rene Russo, some imposing king swagger from Sir Anthony Hopkins and my favourite - lots of scene stealing and trickery from Tom Hiddleston! Oh, and some not enough romance with Natalie Portman. Whatever.

There was some beautiful imagery, and I wasn't surprised when I found out that the creative team included Kramer Morgenthau, from Game of Thrones.  ALSO! there is a cameo from Stan Lee, and keep an eye out for Benicio Del Torro playing the role of Mabutu. (not really)

Thor:The Dark World opens in Australia on 31st October 2013. Which happens to be Thor's-day. Clever!
Go see it. I think you will love it.
