Like many people, I am a deep and heavy sleeper, but only on the outside. Inside is a different story. My dreamscape is rich with sounds, technicolor visuals and enough symbolism to excite
Carl Jung on a slow day. Is it any wonder I am so dead to the world? I am running myself ragged in dreamland! I've long been fascinated with dream interpretation, partly I guess to make sense of the nightly festival that goes on in my head. Are you an in depth dreamer too? Recently I dreamed that I was making Mr BC a sandwich, and when I went to take it to him I suddenly realised I could fly, if I just let myself. So I did, I just rose to the ceiling, simple as that, and flew into the lounge room to give him his sandwich. I remember being unimpressed with his lack of amazed-ness. Let's explore that symbolism, shall we? Haha.
As a child, I used to sleep walk. Once, my mother woke to find me standing next to her bed, peering intently at her face. (creepy much?)
What are you DOING? she asked.
Well! I said.
I have been to Kim's!
Well you had better go to bed then, she said,
it's the middle of the night.
Another time my father woke to find me wearing a track around the kitchen table, into the bathroom, into the laundry, around the kitchen table, into the bathroom, into the laundry, apparently for a long time.
What are you doing?? He asked.
I AM LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SIT DOWN! I snapped, before going to my bedroom, presumably to sit down. I must have been exhausted.
The Gentleman has inherited my dream ability, but instead of walking (so far....) he is a talker. Every night. About 5 times per night, for a period of approximately 30 minutes or longer, he will talk and talk and talk. Sometimes it is creepy, especially when he whispers. Sometimes it is funny, when he sleep yells at his brother to
LOOK OUT! THE STORM TROOPERS ARE BEHIND YOU!! GET THE ROCK! When he was younger he had night terrors - but only for a short while, thank heavens, because they where truly terrifying, for us. He has no memory of them what so ever.
I think dreams are basically a sort and delete function that your brain uses to process whatever is going on in your life. (I have no idea what night terrors are, maybe demonic possession?) I don't understand why some people seem to dream more than others, and what the correlation is between sleeping deeply and dreaming a lot. The Gentleman and I are both snorers and both have allergies, so maybe it is a lack of oxygen thing? Who knows.
Are you a heavy sleeper/active dreamer? What is the weirdest dream you've ever had, and what do you think it meant?
xx
