Breakfast at The Waterloo Hotel

Yesterday I was invited along to The Waterloo Hotel for breakfast, which was just lovely because A -  I like breakfast, B -  Mr BC needs to occasionally leave the house and converse with other grown ups, and C - I was super keen to check out the renovations. Radio 4BH where broadcasting live about some football game that seemed to be a big deal.

The Waterloo is one of the original Art Deco pubs of Brisbane, and I love both Pubs AND Art Deco, so winning! The address might say Newstead, but it is actually in an area that could be known as 'North Valley'. It is the perfect location if you want a big breakfast after, but cannot face the seedy daylight in Brisbane's entertainment district of Fortitude Valley, especially if you've been drinking there all night. Also, Newstead is handy to the city so is ideal for a before, mid day or after work break from the office.

The pub feels shiny and new, without losing any of it's Art Deco charm. Lot's of shiny dark wood, mirrors, and a beautiful fireplace. The bar area is vast, and there is a barista station that makes decent coffee.

We where offered a breakfast buffet of the usual subjects, and maybe I had to steal some bacon off Mr BC's plate, so what! I gave him a sausage! He had a great time chatting with the other grown ups at our shared table, I'm sure he didn't even notice. The pub menu seems to be a wide selection of traditional favourites like surf and turf, pizza, steak and chicken schnitzel, as well as some interesting salads and a good choice of kids meals. Maybe I will head back with the Monkey boys...Wonder what I can steal off their plate?
