Several weeks ago,
B-Brand asked me if I would be interested in being part of a Lenard's Outreach day, and to be honest, I almost said no. Despite the amount of rubbish I eat I am actually a bit of a food snob, and almost never buy any sort of preprepared anything to feed my family for dinner. I decided to say yes because I like to have my ideas challenged, and you never know when you might learn something!
All of Lenard's chicken products are 100% fresh. I bought a variety of things to test against regular supermarket chicken and was amazed at how larger and ...sort of, well, plumper the regular chicken pieces where. This is because they haven't been frozen and then defrosted, so they haven't dehydrated at all. This also means that you can safely put Lenard's chickens in the freezer, because it hasn't already been frozen.
Lenard's use all natural ingredients. What this means to me is if I want to cook them up a batch of crumbed wing pieces as an after school snack, my boys are not going to be ingesting god knows what, which they would be if I gave them chicken nuggets from the supermarket freezer.
So on what seemed like the only sunny day in a month of flooding rains, Lenard's put on a fabulous outreach day. Activities for the kids, a jumping castle, the Lenard's chicken mascot to make fun of, lots of wonderful bloggers and their families to chat with, and of course a delicious lunch showcasing Lenard's finest; all set against Brisbane River? Doing it right and
winning at blogger outreach days! Jacqui and her chicken legs where there to meet us.
The Lenard's team worked really hard and cooked up a storm. These chicken breasts where cooked to perfection, it must be the marinade that keeps them succulent and stops them drying out.
Lenard's lovely marketing team, who are refreshingly down to earth people. I love that Lenard's have a range of products that are fantastic for time poor people (hello! Oh, you too?) to grab when you are on your way home to make dinner. There is a Fajita kit that comes with premarinated chicken that just needs to be cooked in a pan. It comes with fajitas, so all you really need to do is run into the supermarket to grab a bag of salad and maybe some sour cream, and that is dinner sorted!
Lunch! Lenard's have a massive variety of different products with some really interesting flavours that are made with authentic ingredients. The Greek chicken was an absolute winner, with a marinade of fresh lemon and oregano.
Everyone was super interested in the cooking demonstration. I mean the chef was pretty cute, but everyone was hanging off his every word! One of the products I bought at my local Lenard's was a boneless chicken roast, with a macadamia stuffing. I added some roast veggies and salad, and it got a big thumbs up from the BC fam. It was easy to make a special meal for the family when a lot of the hard work was done, without compromising taste or quality.
When we drove up to the park, Lenard's mascot was standing on the side of the road, with a sign saying 'Welcome Bloggers'. To say the monkeys where impressed would be an understatement!
Group shot of happy bloggers and the Lenard's team. Not shown - happy families with full bellies.
Go on, do it. You know you want to.
