Chaos Notes April Edition

Well, it has been a while, hasn't it? The Internet gods have not been smiling on me, and I don't like it one bit. They are harsh and unforgiving gods, and they have taught me some hard lessons.

Does your laptop come up with the message This version of Windows is not authentic? If you are like me, you might say Phht! You're telling me, it's Vista? Close the pop up, and be on your merry way. If you do this for too long, though, Windows will get jack of it and disable your password to the Internet. ALL Internet, not just the home modem. You will not be able to access Internet anywhere. Terrifying. To placate Windows, you will have to re install it, which is OK because you have all the paperwork from when you bought it, the numbers you need are on a sticker on the underside of your laptop (except when they are partly worn away and cannot be read.) Luckily your husband is somewhat IT savvy and can talk to Microsoft help desks in different countries, who don't actually help at all - but that is OK, because the husband can use his magic to somehow temporarily fix Windows without re installing it, without even knowing how he did it! But then....Your 8 yr old iPod addicted son uses up all of the Internet allowance well before the month is up (even though you increased the limit last month) so now you can get Internet, but only very slowly. I think there are several lessons to be learned there for all of us.

It hasn't all been Windows induced drama, other things have been going on in Casa Chaos.

I went to the local rugby leagues club with some school mums to see a Pink and Lady Gaga tribute show, and had an all round groovy time. It was loud, fun, dark, and crowded. Let me just say that the drinks are very inexpensive and the people watching is excellent.

Had a makeover! Very exciting. Regular readers will know I can barely make it to a proper hair doctors more than once per year, so when I turned up for a haircut and was told I was also getting colour, foils, and professional makeup I was super excited. Possibly over excited, but hey. It was lots of fun and I am thrilled with the result.

Took Monkey boy to a birthday party, where they had the best games! I tend to think games at kids parties are a bit of a fizzer, but these had the children engaged and laughing. Besides this game of chocolate on a string, there was another game I hadn't seen before - the children sit in a circle, in the middle is a family block of chocolate on a plastic plate, with a plastic knife and spoon. Everyone takes turns rolling a dice (die?) and the first one to roll a six has to put on a hat and cape, then get stuck into the chocolate - but he can only eat what he cuts off with the knife and fork. I have never seen such determined cutlery skills on Monkey boy, while the dice whizzed round at lightening speed. So much fun.

Got to taste test one of Lenard's Chickens yet to be released products - rack of chicken! It is a rolled stuffed breast of chicken with wooden picks making up the rack part. It comes in Maple Pecan and Tomato Chili, and both of them are just delicious. The family where very impressed to have such a fancy dinner, and two racks where just enough for 5 people. They are available in store in June. Also - Lenard's are holding a competition on face book at he moment where you can win a holiday a year for 10 years! How awesome would that be!

Gave the garden a good clean out and planted winter vegetables. We planted cauliflower, purple cauliflower, broccolini, sugerloaf cabbage and regular cabbage. I think I might need to make some garlic chili spray soon because it will just be a smorgasbord for cabbage moths, and I don't want to share. Can you believe the price of cauliflower in the shops at the moment? $7 each! Outrageous.

Most importantly, we also planted this - Cavalo Nero, my favourite. Back off moths!!

What we didn't clear out was this gooseberry bush. It came from my Mother in law as a stick in a pot some months ago, and has quickly grown  into a healthy triffid. There are plenty of little lanterns underneath those leaves, but the berries are not quite ready to eat.

Mr BC has taken Miss Kora to the dog park, the beach and under the bridges at low tide. Look at this face, she is so good at giving attitude. I think she is saying Bitch, you are in my seat. She loves the drivers seat too, and I'm kind of glad she can't reach the pedals. The boys love the dog park as well, but not as much as running under the bridges. Gosh the tide comes in quickly! RUN Monkeys!

What have you been up to lately?
