Before Christmas I was digging through my kitchen cupboards for a particular footed bowl that I knew was hiding in there. I wanted to fill it with christmas baubles and admire it's prettiness, as you do. Not only did I find the footed bowl I also unearthed a whole bunch of things I hadn't looked at in years! It was treasure! In my very own kitchen!

I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to old stuff. Not old pizza boxes type of stuff, just old vintagy stuff. I particularly like old kitchenware and decorative items. Being known as a person who 'likes that stuff', I seem to be the depository for family hand me downs. Stuff that has been in someones cupboard for decades, that they don't actually want to throw away or sell. I guess I am a good alternative? So combine that with a few 'good' crystal wedding presents of my own (that I love but have hardly had use for)....well, there is a bit of vintagy stuff hiding in, and on top of my cupboards. Hence the dust!
A set of 4 napkin holders. An old friend of my mothers (who I never actually met) gave this to me as an engagement present. I remember being overwhelmed that someone I had never met gifted me with this, but also a bit horrified at how ugly I thought it was. Now, I can't believe I didn't like them! Their delicate china (?) flowers are just beautiful, the colours are so subtle. Now I think they are just divine.
Another Mahjong lunch? Maybe Bridge.
Individually wrapped in plastic and not at all tarnished. Cute little enamel roses on the handles. Definitely tea party material. The verse reads Lets enjoy new life! We hope that you will find 'Happy Life' joyful in your own lifestyle. I'd drink a cup of tea to that! I don't know if it is authentic Limoges, there is a lot of Asian writing on the box. The lack of tarnish gives me pause...
This spun aluminium soda siphon comes in it's original box, complete with all the fittings and instructions. I would love to place it on a bar cart. I would love a bar cart. I think this used to belong to my paternal grandfather.

This is crystal, and I have used this to serve trifle, a long time ago. It's quite a good size.
I remember this was a wedding present, and the joke is I absolutely hate cherries. Which is a shame, because I have the perfect serving dish for them. Maybe for the rest of the family, if I leave the house I won't have to small them.
Such a pretty little bowl, I almost want to put some flowers and floating candles in it!
A vase, which was a wedding present from my fathers business partner. If someone ever gave me flowers I would absolutely use it. (HINT to Mr BC!)
Another lovely vase, a wedding gift from a lovely friend. I also have a smaller version which was a wedding present from a lovely cousin. They look very nice together, and they weigh an absolute tonne. Must be all the lead in that Real Crystal.
My Auntie gave us this Cheese Dome as a wedding present! It's massive. And it has a secret....
If you flip the dome and the base, it becomes a massive salad bowl!
I do love all these treasures, and I wish I had the type of house where I could have them out on display all the time. But the reality is our house is a tiny. There is no room for display cabinets or a quiet space that is child free. Although filled with love and personality, it is also filled with the loud, rambunctious chaos that 3 children bring, and in all honesty, I wouldn't want it any other way.
Now that those children are getting older, maybe I could bring a few pieces out occasionally? Or at least have a tea party while they are at school? Or maybe a game of Mahjong?
