Yesterday morning I was telling Mr BC about my plans for a small section of wall in the dining area (remove the white board & black board, paint the wall red, use the fancy frame from a broken mirror to create a new blackboard & put that on the lower half of the wall, hang my blue & white plate collection on the top half of the wall. The wall we are talking about is really the small side section of the kitchen cupboards, so it won't be too massive a hit of red, but will delineate the space between the kitchen/dining area/lounge room nicely...What? Doesn't your mind gallop along like this? Keep up for heavens sake!)
Anyway. This discussion quickly got a bit heated, with the outcome being that Mr BC thinks I 'Should finish some of the projects I've already got going before devoting energy (he means money) to new projects.'
Well, really! How very dare he?! Then I thought...I know I am but what are you? And then I thought Well for fucks sake OK THEN! I WILL!
So I did. I made some bandanna pants for my children. I know, bandanna pants are so 1997, but I haven't had the bandannas that long, I swear. Maybe only 2 years, no longer. I bought them with the intention of making them into bandanna pants but have been too busy/machine is crap/distracted with other projects to get onto it. Shut up.
There is an excellent 'how to' PDF
here, or trawl the net to find other examples of the same pattern. They are pretty easy & if my stupid ancient sewing machine wasn't so crotchety they would have taken 10 minutes each, tops. Because they are 100% cotton, they are perfect for sleeping, playing, getting wet, as well as being cool & comfortable.
Monkey Boy's are a bit on the large side, but being so roomy makes them super comfortable. There are lots of different patterns around, & I guess you don't have to use bandannas, any type of material would be fine. The beauty of using bandannas is that they are already hemmed, so you don't have to sew a bottom or top hem.
So now I am sitting here eyeing off the other projects that are hanging around. Looking at you, coat racks.
I'm still doing that wall though.
