Award Time

The lovely Mama Thyme has passed on the Versatile Bloggers Award to me! Isn't she lovely? Go over right now to see why I am so impressed to be receiving an award from someone so awesome! Go now, I'll wait. Make sure you look at her amazing garden.

I am supposed to write 7 things about me, but every time I attempt this it turns into 7 blog posts. So I thought instead I would list 7 of my life goals. Same/same, but different.
  1. Visit New Orleans for a looooong time, at least 3 months. Stay in the quarter, do some cooking classes, walk the garden district, paddle the bayous, ghost tour, dig into some voodoo culture, dance, & eat. Eat a po boy, a muffaletta sandwich, turtle soup, beignets & coffee, crawfish ettoufee, & a bananas forster that has been made by someone other than me. Fuckin Gumbo, man!
  2. Start a charity for homeless youth. A series of safe houses that will provide a safe, clean place to get on your feet, find a job, get some medical help, some financial assistance, some shampoo, some clean clothes. It feels like a succession of governments has been stripping Public Health in general, but Mental Health in particular, of funding for the last 30 years. Many people cannot afford the level of care they need, their family relationships break down & eventually they end up on the street. Australia is by no means a 3rd world country but did you know, for example, that there are only 5 beds in Queensland public hospitals that are dedicated to patients with an eating disorder? And those beds are only for adults.
  3. I would love to renovate & redecorate lots & lots of houses. Wouldn't we all? Better just focus on the one I have...
  4. Start a business. I am not even sure what I would do yet, there are so many things I am interested in - but slowly, slowly I am gathering information towards this goal. You will have to stay tuned for this one!
  5. Own, & farm, a largish piece of land. My dream looks like it might have fallen from the pages of Country Living, & I am sure it might be a more than gazing at some sheep in a field or collecting fresh eggs while wearing a floral summer dress & gum boots. Possibly 4am starts to vaccinate cows against pink eye? Maybe falling into a  pile of manure while running away from geese? Sounds even better, bring it on!
  6. To have a better blog! I thought I was pretty techno savvy but it seems that is only while I am sitting next to my good friend/work colleague Kevin. So far I am having user related issues with Google Analytics, Google Chrome, the stupid layout, & Facebook. Such a Der head. Miss you Kevin! Mwah!
  7. Really, the one big goal I have, is to have a healthy & happy family. Everything else is just extraneous, wallpaper, a delightful side dish. It's not the main course.
So I tried hard to keep it short but you can see my point about every point being a blog post. I hope you are still reading because now I get to pass this award onto 15 inspiring blogs, which is the best bit really. I should have done this first before everyone got sick of me waffling on & left to go over to the Pioneer Woman. Whom I adore, & sort of aspire to be. A little bit.

I have decided to make ONE small change to this award. I am letting these blogs off the hook of paying the award forward, if they so choose. It feels a bit chain mail-y, & to be honest who has the time?  So if you want to, go ahead. Or just bask in the glory!

So in no particular order, here they are...
  1. Rune Soup Hugely interesting, valid, & entertaining. Gordon is so clever he sometimes makes my brain hurt.
  2. Dear Goddess Bless Me The lovely Kijjet offers free palm reading.
  3. Better After This blog is a furniture redo inspiration quick fix. I am addicted.
  4. Funky Junk Interiors I love the way Donna creates furniture out of salvaged timber.
  5. Gastronomy Gal Brisbane based foodie, my go to for local food news & reviews.

  7. Life in Rehab See how this funny Florida mum redecorates after her house burnt down.

  14. Fairchild Street Beautiful photography, lovely writing.
  15. Filth Wizardry  Probably the first childrens craft blog I ever looked at, & still awesome.
These inspiring blogs represent little parts of me - a mix of mummy blogger, pagan, crafter, furniture upcycler, gardener, cook.  These strong, powerful bloggers inspire me to be a better writer, photographer, time manager, pagan...Aspiring lifehacker.

Thank you
