My least favourite childrens DVD

I don't know why we have this DVD but it's been kicking around for years, and it goes through occasional periods of high rotation in the BC Casa. It has 5 full episodes of different children's shows, and is aptly named 'Toddler Teaser'. I think maybe parental menace might be more apt, but whatever, that's just my opinion.



Highlights of Toddler Teaser

• Little Red Tractor. This is the crushing tale of Welshman Mr Jones, who dams the local creek to make a pond for the 'pretty duckies', thereby robbing his neighbours of a waterway in which to enjoy boating pursuits, until Little Red Tractor saves the day. My favourite quote (spoken in a rich Welsh accent) is 'Beavering away'. Cracks Mr BC up every time.
• New MacDonald's Farm. This is quite enchanting, and Monkey Boys favourite. They play indoor games when it rains, make garlic spray to stop the 'caterpillerers' eating the cabbages, and solve the mystery of who ate the apple pie that was cooling on the kitchen windowsill. (spoiler alert - it was everyone) There is however, an unfortunate song that has young singing and dancing children, singing and dancing about being farm animals. Charming, until a small girl sings directly to camera that 'I'm a pig!' Not cool, MacDonald's Farm.
• Barney the Purple Dinosaur uses the power of imagination to enable a park full of children to play in a brass band. There is nothing fun about this episode.
• Jay Jay the Jet Plane flies around with his friends and learns about colours. What is he, on acid? Everyone in the house hates this the most, especially the theme music. Even Monkey Boy skips over it. Very irritating.
• Noddy is supposed to be having a lucky day, but he does not. My fave: Noddy has a bit of a tantrum, and stamps his foot on the ground. "Lucky day? I did not! No ice cream! No Tessie Bear! Oil on the road, dangerous driving tickets, a flat tire!!!' Seriously, I can relate.
